Green vein kratom is the most well-rounded of the three major categories — green, white, and red.
It isn’t as relaxing as red vein kratom, nor as stimulating as white vein — but sits somewhere in the middle of the two.
If you’re only going to get one type of kratom for all-purpose use — choosing one of the following green vein options is your best bet.
What is Green Vein Kratom?
When fresh kratom leaves are harvested, chemical reactions continue to occur inside until they’re dried. Farmers can alter the effects of their kratom harvest depending on how long they allow the plant to remain moist after harvest.
Green vein kratom is kept moist for several hours after harvest. Once the leaves become sufficiently darkened by the chemical changes in the leaves, they’re quickly dried to lock in the alkaloid ratio like a snapshot.
Most green vein kratom contains around a 1:1 ratio of the two major alkaloids, mitragynine, and 7-hydroxy-mitragynine.
Some green vein strains use unique processing methods which alter this ratio further — for example, Green Bali is oxidized for only a short time, so it’s more stimulating than green vein kratom that has longer oxidization times — such as Green Malay, which is known for its relaxing nature.
Green Vein Kratom Effects: A Perfect Balance
Kratom is unique in that it has the capacity to increase energy levels as well as induce a state of relaxation and calmness. These two concepts appear to contradict each other at first, but it’s not that simple.
A large part of what effects kratom has depends on the dose. Higher doses tend to be heavier (relaxing, soothing, calming). Lower doses are lighter (more energizing, stimulating, and focus-enhancing).
All kratom has these effects but will have a higher propensity for one end of the spectrum or the other. Red vein is generally considered “heavier,” while white vein is considered “lighter.”
What makes green vein special is it’s positioned directly in the middle — allowing you to more accurately control your experience depending on the amount you use.
If you need a pick me up, take a lower dose. If you’re looking for help to relax, take a higher dose. Simple as that.
Fresh Kratom = Strong Kratom
The general consensus is that stronger kratom is better. While we agree with this to an extent, we believe it’s more accurate to say that “fresher is better.”
Fresh kratom contains hundreds of active ingredients. While many try to distill the effects of kratom down to just two active ingredients — this metric is oversimplistic and inaccurate.
A batch of fresh kratom that tests lower for mitragynine or 7-OH-mitragynine will almost always hit harder and offer more versatility than stale old kratom with impressive alkaloid levels.
This is why we take into account a combination of the alkaloid test scores and the physical age of the plant. We also look at how the leaves were stored, how much moisture remains in the leaf matter, and physical traits like how it smells and tastes too.

Is Kratom Safe?
All herbs and substances that have an effect on the body have the potential to cause side effects.
Whenever taking any substance, natural or otherwise, it’s important that you do so responsibly. This means understanding the dose, avoiding mixing with other medications, and consulting your doctor first if you have any underlying medical issues.
Kratom is best used in moderation. Take periodic breaks and take measures to address the underlying problem, rather than relying on herbs and supplements as a crutch.
What Does Green Vein Kratom Do?
Green vein kratom strains do it all. They offer the full range of kratoms effects. Lower doses tend to be more stimulating — higher doses are more relaxing.
Many green vein strains also affect mood, sensitivity, and motivation.
Is Kratom Legal?
Kratom is legal in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and most of Europe.
In the US, there are six exceptions where kratom was prohibited by local state law — including Alabama, Arkansas, Indiana, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Wisconsin.
Does Kona Kratom Use Third-Party Testing?
Yes, Kona Kratom submits a sample from every batch to an independent laboratory for testing. We check for pesticides, heavy metals, microbial contaminants, solvents and compare the concentrations of mitragynine and 7-OH-mitragynine.
We’re also certified by the American Kratom Association — which is the primary regulator in the US tasked with ensuring a minimum threshold for the quality and safety of kratom products within the US.
Where Can I Buy Green Vein Kratom Capsules?
All of our green vein strains are available in capsule form. The same goes for our red and white kratom varieties as well.
To order capsules, select the strain you want to order, and choose capsules instead of raw powder. You’ll have the option to choose the quantities of capsules you want.
